Grrrrrrr
No many of you (well OK the 3 of you that read my LJ) will know I work in a benefit centre, I advise people about the benefit Job seekers Allowance. I treat all my customers with respect, and try to do the best for everyone I can, if I can bend a rule to help someone I will. I am the type of person who gets a kick out of making someone smile, I like to think I am easy going and genuine. I always try to be fair, and will give a bollocking if needed, I am not going to be walked over. I also know that in this job I deal with people who quite often are down on there luck and are desperate for money. But there is a differance between desperate and being a tosser.
I had a person who will remain unanamed because of the data protection act, sex will also be unrevield for the same reasons.
This person, had done 2 weeks work, carried on signing and got paid over £500 for this 2 weeks work, he told me a weeks work, and could not remember how many hours and how much money he got ( we found out by calling the person who employed him ) so I told him I could not pay any money to him until this work had bee declared. I also told him if he had worked over 16 hours his claim would be closed and he would have to reclaim. Well he didn't take this well, and he believed I was being petty, and he was not at fault for not telling us about this work he done. So I was in the wrong. He started swearing at me and I asked him to stop, he continued and called me a f'ing C**t (without the start and in its fullest form with thrown in loudness and in a very threatning manor), so I walked away only to have him throw his signing book at me in a similar manor that you would flick a playing card. It narrowly missed my face, and the chap was removed from anywhere near me, taken to another part of our building, found out from then he was going to get no money, so he kicks a hole in the wall.
Now if you did this anywhere else you would be instantly banned, and possibly have the police called, but not us, oh no, we have to go through proceedures, to find out if we can ban him.
Why do people have to be so abusive, and why is it quite often the abusive one get sorted quickly, what are we teaching them? Shout, be a git, throw things, and we'll sort you out. well sod that.
OK Rant over
Must calm down, Will form a circle tomorrow with workfriends, we shall link hands and sign Kum By Yaa.
I'm not a hippy, but why can't we all put as much effort into being nice as we do in being gits. I am sure the world would be a better place.
